Which political party’s website wins the design vote?
Okay, so today’s the day. Whoever you vote for and for what ever reason, today’s the day we express our democratic right to vote. So do it.
Not wanting to detract from the importance of this occasion I wanted to take a moment to look at the design of the three main parties’ home pages to see which site – not party – would get my vote.
Complete impartiality, (and in alphabetical order), which party’s site would get your vote?

The Conservative Party
The Labour Party
The Liberal Democrates
For a good insight into the design of each site read Jamil Shehadeh’s article here.
And the winner?
On the basis of their websites, my personal view is that the Conservative home page is the strongest and most clearly considered.
But what do you think? Do you agree? And do any of the other parties have even better sites?
Let me know.

The conservative website is just like the conservative party – style over substance. Today’s election winner will have to make public spending cuts so big that they’ll risk not getting elected again for a very long time. For this reason I’m almost tempted to vote for Cameron’s clowns. Almost. Sorry, probably should have said something design related.
Flowers are pretty eh?
This is a touch superficial non? Design runs a lot thicker than skin deep, what about the usability, content, candidate transparency on the site – connecting with the public, use of social media? That’s the true assistant to behavioral change and use of influence to persuade.
I think it’s a little shallow just to go on looks alone. Then again it’s how the media has sold a certain two clean cut chaps to us and I’m sure that’s influenced the public vote.
I’d prefer to vote for a geezer with a beard, far more trustworthy.
From a visual perspective alone I like the conservatives. Its neat and clean and sticks to a grid. Also has consistency and the imagery is more natural based. The labour one for me just looks artificial with the big processed graphic!
Great idea for a post
Thank you Fred, I appreciate your comments.

I completely agree on your comments. But we would assume the average voter has little or no design training and therefore would be superficial in the understanding of the UI of a website design.
Thank you for your comments though.
