50 Years of John Lloyd

When discussing ‘great’ British designers, the same handful of names tend to pop up again and again. Alan Fletcher, Peter Saville, Neville Brody… We all know these names and the canon of work they’ve produced over the years and, with good reason, we admire them.

Recently however, a less familiar face has emerged from the shadows, a designer who has been a hugely important part of the British graphic design industry for 50 years. The name John Lloyd will be one the majority of designers haven’t heard of but the body of work he has quietly been amassing over the years and can now be found in a new online archive showing the fruits of his illustrious career.

Guest Post – Camilla Grey » MB meets MD

For our third guest post we invited Camilla Grey, Digital Strategist at Moving Brands, the award-winning global branding agency to write about how MB met MD.

Mat Dolphin and I initially bonded over a bunny. A Lindt chocolate bunny. I had posted a Twitpic of my bunny on the Moving Brands Twitter, and Mat Dolphin responded with a snap of his. Before we knew it, we’d sparked a mass of bunny poses from around the Twitterverse. It was one of those sweet, serendipitous moments that got people talking and gave that vital human face to our respective creative companies.

Ten Questions 001 – Michael C. Place

As well as concentrating on our own work, I always try to ensure I take time to check out what our peers are doing and start conversations with other designers. I don’t think of this dialogue as ‘networking’, but more a chance to chat to other interesting, creative and passionate people who often have a great deal of interesting viewpoints and opinions on issues design-related and otherwise.

With this in mind, I thought I’d ask a range of designers, photographers, illustrators, writers, directors and other interesting people who’s work I admire to answer the same set of ten questions and share the answers along with some examples of their work.
